One Glass of Soda A Day

Posted in Uncategorized, work on June 24, 2011 by hangingbridge

Oh no! I’m creating a really bad habit of drinking soda everyday.  Even though I don’t finish the entire glass of rootbeer, I can still feel my kidneys and tummy complaining with every gulp of the carbonated drink. I think my pancreas is also going to complain about it.  If it gets fed up, then it will probably resort to give me diabetes.

I’ve been drinking soda for the past four days and I don’t like it.  I think those combo meals make it really hard not to drink soda.  It feels like you’re wasting money if you don’t drink them.

But come to think of it, I will be wasting more time and money if I get sick.  So on Monday, I’d decline the glass of soda.  I also left the stub I got this morning.  It says there that I’m going to have a free upsize for my soda drink on my next visit.  I left it on the table and is up for grabs.

==================

I went window shopping in 7 Eleven awhile ago.  I was looking at all the junk foods they are offering.  But none appealed to me.  I left with nothing.  It was good exercise though.

===================

Currently, I’m working in a company where most employees are complaining everyday without exception.  I don’t know how they do it but the management makes it a point to harass the employees with some threat or reminder.

I think they’re power tripping because of the bond they are withholding from their employees.

=================

I’m going to leave this company as soon as the contract ends.  It’s too bad.  I like that it’s so easy to work here.  And I feel the same kind of fulfillment when I work in another company or field.  But then, the management is ruining everything, not just for me, but for the rest of us.

Sleepy

Posted in Uncategorized on June 3, 2011 by hangingbridge

I am so darn sleepy. I am yawning while having class. I just wish my students don’t notice it. Also, I’m not really listening to what they’re saying. My head is floating despite the cup of coffee I’m drinking right now.

My eyelids are not the only ones that feel heavy right now. My whole body is about to give way. I couldn’t sit upright.

I slept late last night like most work nights. I like to think that I’m able to juggle two jobs a day but I don’t really find it easy.

I’m also not able to sleep in between jobs because when my daughter wakes up, I prefer playing with her. Snuggling with her keeps me awake. I should have brought my baby to work.

She’s my cup of coffee.

To Write, I Must Read

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on October 8, 2009 by hangingbridge

I’ve been writing out of emotions and point of views and opinions of my own. I want to write with more foundation to increase the credibility of what I write. And so, to address this need, I grabbed a book from the single bookshelf in my room. It has been so very long ago that I have finished what I have started reading. There are so many newly-bought books in my shelves but I don’t find the time to read them since I didn’t see the need. But now, I thirst for something to read, something new to know. I wanted to feed my mind before I start feeding the minds of other people.

I am feeling terrified for those who are literally crying for help (on the radio) for those in the roof already while water levels still increasing.  Today has been a nightmare for so many people.  Dear Lord, help us po.

Stranded

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on September 26, 2009 by hangingbridge

Wind blowing against my windows gives me the creeps.  Central Luzon is under the stormy clouds of Ondoy.  I just got home and is taking advantage of the electricity which may be gone in a while once this storm subsides (so that electricians all over could repair the live wires that has been ripped out of their posts due to the strong gusts of wind).

I’m tuned to a blaring News Radio channel right now paging all rescue teams from all over to rescue people who are stranded in their own homes.  People are now staying above the roof of their houses.  Homes are now almost underwater.

=================

Office staff has been told to go home as early as possible.  My mom called me on the phone that I have to get out of the office at that instant.  She kept saying it over and over again so I said I will as soon as I am able to eject myself from my seat.  My mother didn’t laugh at the joke.  When I got to the basement parking, I understood why.  The basement parking was starting to flood.  And so, I didn’t wait for my car to “warm-up”.  I sped off as fast as I can.  I thought I was going to beat the rain and the anticipated floods but I was too late to “eject” from my seat.

===============

While driving, the road floods were getting worse as I get nearer to our village.  I drove through three flooded parts of the road.  I allowed cars to go ahead of me so that they could move the waters to the side and make less flooded way for my vehicle.  I was thankful I wasn’t driving a sedan.  This is my first time to drive through floods.  I was really anxious that my car would just turn off itself in the middle of the road.  But thank goodness, it didn’t.

==============

On my way home, I was able to take videos but wasn’t able to take pictures of really flooded areas since I was the one driving and had to be careful because my auv might just break down in the middle of the road.

===============

I couldn’t go through one flooded part of the road on my way home and so I parked in a Catholic church compound.  I got out of my car to look for somewhere I could buy my late lunch.  After which, I went to the church and saw the saddest bride.  There was a scheduled wedding today in that church and because of the rain, the wedding might have been called off.  I see no groom beside the bride and so I presume that the groom has also been stranded in between flooded areas.  My heart went out to the girl.   The storm “Ondoy” ruined her supposed to be the happiest day of her life.

================

On their rooftops at this very moment:  Senior citizens, some wheelchair-borne, babies, toddlers, a local starlet (Christine Reyes) and so many more Filipinos.

Rescue inflated boats and “amphibians” couldn’t get through the flood because of the vehicles left behind by their owners parked in the streets.

People are crying at this very minute.

Children and adults alike are found dead due to drowning.

No landslides have been reported yet.

No more electricity in some of the areas.

It’s 4pm and in two hours, it will be dark.

============

I’m looking outside my window and could see how fierce the winds are right now.  And I could just imagine how those people in their roofs, wet and afraid for their safety.  This is going to be a long night for many of us.  And all I could do is pray for them.
